He’s back on track for the MTN BMX SA Championships and Grand National.
 
Hi Guys - for those who know, I crashed and have been off for 8 weeks. I have not been able to do anything but recover and chill - it’s been a long 8 weeks doing nothing, especially being a spectator at the UCI BMX World Champs in my own diverse country.
 
At first I was really bummed that I had to miss the 1st time ever World Champs in my home country knowing that this was my big shot to show the home town crowd what I really could do. It was a tough decision, but I had no choice and knew that everything happens for a reason and would have to focus on the following Worlds and the SX rounds coming up.
 
1st practice came around and I could feel the vibe and just wanted to get out on the awesome track and bust some whips so badly, but as the days went by it got better and better and I kept reminding myself to keep my head up. The venue was awesome and the vibe was phenomenal. Although I was not busy with racing, there was no easy way out as I had to do some media stuff and support good friend and team mate Sifiso Nhlapo, and any kids that needed my help. It was not easy, but well worth it. (Being a rider is a lot easier) lol
 
It’s been almost a month since World Champs and I’ve had some good weeks to relax and think a lot about the next 2 years leading up to 2012 Olympics. I went back to see my doctor and he was really happy with my progress after the 6 weeks. I was pumped on the positive feed back and couldn’t wait to start to train again. It’s been 2 weeks now and I’ve been doing some light gym and cardio work. It’s going well and I’m just so happy to be moving in the right direction – where I left off. I’m taking baby steps and can feel the progress as the weeks go by. I got the final word from the Doc and took the bike out and rode for the 1st time yesterday since my crash. It felt awesome and I can’t wait for the next couple of weeks.
 
I have 4 weeks to the MTN BMX SA Championships and Grand National. I was runner up for the title before I crashed and I’m hoping to brush up on that. I’ll be spending a lot of time on the bike - riding to prepare for that event. I feel good so far and really positive - just need to polish up on a few things and I’ll be on my way.
 
I have set new goals and new challenges and can’t wait to reach them. I’ll keep you guys posted on how the rest of my recovery goes and my preparation for the Finals.
 
A big thanks to everyone who was there for me through this hard period.
