Gavin reports back on SA/Zim racing

Grands and African Challenge update

I decided at the last minute to make the trip out to the Grands in South Africa. I arrived on Wednesday and tried to get used to the time change and get some time in on the track.

The Alrode BMX facility was top notch and the track was in amazing condition, so I knew it was going to be a good weekend of racing! Everyone is stepping their game up these days so the competition was stiff and provided some good racing action.

Day 1 started of shaky, but I found my legs by the main event and ended off with the win.

Day 2 all went to plan and challenged for the win in the last corner.

All in all I had a great weekend of racing winning both Main events and becoming the 2011 Grand Champion.

It was then off to Zimbabwe for the 2011 African Championships. The track was world class and the Zim hospitality was awesome! I had a good weekend of racing and finished up 2nd in the time trial and 3rd over all in the main event!

Next stop for me will be the 2011 ABA Grand Nationals at the end of November in the United States.

Just want to say a special thanks to my Family, my Coach Jonnathan Chislett, The Dodd family, The CIA team, The Ellse family and everyone else! Without you guys nothing would be possible!
